Support chains loop around pulleys attaching the crown-shaped counter weight, which also holds the 14 opal glass slant shade designed to cast the light downward onto work areas. Lamp commonly referred to as an Iron Horse. Style and mechanics of operational are representational of late 19th century American kerosine lighting.
