Antique Glass Insulator Star Yellow Green CD164 Black Carbon Junk Rocks Flaws
Antique Glass Insulator Star Yellow Green CD164 Black Carbon Junk Flakes Rocks. Presented for your consideration we are offering this extremely rare, antique, threaded pintype glass electric insulator. Quite rare with several unique irregularities, a result of primitive and endearingly clumsy manufacturing making it quite unusual and, hence, desirable, in addition to the rare color and embossing combination. Embedded within insulator at four (4) distinct places we find black carbon, one of the rarest substances to be found within insulators, and we see them in the following places, going top-to-bottom. Right crown by mold line, roundish in shape, measuring about 4mm x 4mm (see photo 2 & 7). Right rear wire groove by mold line, horizontal in shape, just about 2 straight below one in crown described above, about 5mm x 2mm (see photo 8). Largest of them is located just above STAR logo in front skirt could it have any better placement? , in an oblong shape, quite thick and with substance, measuring about 10mm x 4mm (see photos 1, 3, 4). At right front bottom rim of skirt about 1 1/2 right of STAR, quite thick as can be seen when looking from bottom, as it covers nearly entire thickness of glass, and 10mm long x 4mm thick (see photos 4 & 11). Insulator is peppered throughout with whitish “snow” flakes and brownish rocks, some worthy of particular mention, again going from top down. Front center crown directly above STAR logo is a brownish white embedded object, not very large, but great placement, about 4mm x 2mm (see photo 1, 7, 10). Right front wire groove protrusion, just below round carbon and by mold line, is a nice sized thick crystallized white chunk, easy to notice as it contrasts with the deep green glass, about 4mm x 4mm (see photo 2). In left rear wire groove are two large brown rocks or junk, just behind mold line, and, again, blatantly obvious as they are near glass surface and contrast wonderfully with color, each about 5mm x 5mm (see photo 6). Front skirt on upper left point of star about 3mm x 3mm (see photo 1 & 3). From dome, and throughout, are hundreds of various sized white and crystallized flakes, and limited to 12 photos, we thought it best of course to capture the largest, as well as the condition of the insulator in general (see all photos). There are some great large bubbles, mostly oblong, throughout insulator, with largest and most interesting concentrated around skirt and in wire groove (see all photos). THESE ARE EXTREMELY DESIREABLE & SOUGHT AFTER IMPERFECTIONS and to find an insulator with so many irregularities makes it even more valuable to the collector. Specifications are as follows. 3 3/4 High x 3 1/4 Diameter. Side wire groove, single petticoat, smooth bottom. In excellent vintage condition, with the following very minor faults. A shallow clam chip at front skirt just left of STAR, measuring 1 1/4″ Long x 1/4″ wide (thickness of glass) x 2mm high, so not very noticeable unless viewing insulator from bottom looking up (see photo 1, 3, 4, 11, 12). Fleabite on rear crown <1mm x 1mm (photo 10). Thin scratch on rear skirt about 180 degrees around from STAR and just beneath large bubble about 1/4 long (photo 9). WE ARE ALWAYS OVERLY CRITICAL IN OUR DESCRIPTIONS, SO THERE IS NO DISCREPANCY UPON RECEIPT WE NOTE EVERY FLAW, NO MATTER HOW MINOR. Please look at all photos as they are an integral part of description.
